14 - Huizen Harbour in Black & White

 Huizen Holland
It was cold - windy and dull -
I didn't expect to get any goods shots at all. The overcast sky resulted in over exposed shots and dark foregrounds.
After reviewing my photos I found that changing the photo to Black and White, cropping and filtering the sky I came up with an acceptable photo. Normally I don't like too much photo editing but in this case I guess it was worth it.

The original photo is below.

Photo 13 2011 - The Window

Along the wharf at the Huizen harbour - Holland. I spotted this colourful home across the harbour. I like the way the whits stands out from the goldend colour of the wood panels.

Photo 12 - 2011 - All knotted up

Huizen harbour - Holland -
I walked along the pier looking for a good shot, the weather was cloudy limiting shots of the boats so I tried a couple of close ups.

Photo 11 - 2011 The factory at night

Its 5:30 Am - the air is crisp, cold and clear with agentle breeze. The factory has been humming through the night - a beast that does'nt stop. 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. With no tripod i relied on a low brick wall to support the camera - a 8 second exposure allows the steam from the stack to blend into a long white cloud. Pity it was a little cloudy because this made it difficult to get a clean sharp image of the moon.

Photo 10 - 2011 - The bitter end

Headstones overlook a popular pub called 'The bitter end", a fitting name for a pub located accross from the graveyard in the Cockermouth church graveyard.

Photo 8 - Cockermouth Church & graves

Cockermouth UK- A small village popular with tourists because of its character and fine dining. Black and white seemed to suit this photo better than colour.

Photo 7 - 2011 - The Seaman's Mission Bell

This is the bell at the Seamen's Mission in Melbourne. Snapped from teh car while I was stopped at the trafiic lights. I like the simplicity, the framing and the textures.

Photo 4 - 2011

Bowled out - It take patience and good timing to snap a shot like this where the ball is just touching the stumps.
70-200mm lense with TC14EII converter making the lense effectively 420mm f4. Shutter speed 1/1000.

Photo 1 - Ainsley Park Cricket vs PNG

My son arranged for his cricket club to play against a team from PNG. The event was a huge success with many friendhips formed and a good chance for a repeat game next year.

Many of the photos of this game can be seen on www.Picasaweb.google.com/parkerspress

When photographing sports I like to include some of the sporting equipment as album covers fo my digital files. Today a bat and gloves.
