Day 77 - Ginger

Ginger blossom along the road through the Dandenong Ranges - We spotted this as we drove by, and then deliberatly circled back to take a few shots. I love the colours, but some of the petals are a bit blown out and there are a few distractions in the background especially in the corners. Photo needs a focal point ,.. but still nice enough.

Day 76 - Puffing Billy

This picture seemed fitting in Black and White.
We waited at the old trestle bridge in Menzies Creek for around 20 minutes and caught the train on its last trip for the day. I do worry about those young kids hanging out the windows though.

Day 75 - Bathing Tiger

The Tiger enclosure is on of my favourite spots at the zoo. I had waited almost an hour for the Tiger to stop his incessant pacing and to do something a bit more interesting - Even though it wasn't hot today he soaked himself for a few minutes allowing me to get this shot- I like the ripples in the water, but it would have been better if he had faced the camera for me. A little HDR brings out the details. Not Bad but I know I can do better. Next time more patience and use more exposure points to even out the light.

Day 74 - Purple Daisy

Just photoshopped - No HDR treatment - Focus is pretty good but some of the petals are a little over exposed. Set against a very dark background and this makes the flower stand out nicley.

Day 73 - Paper Daisy - HDR

Another possible shot for my entruy into this months photo challenge. I have used some HDR to enhance this photo so I can't submit it with these modifications.Posted by Picasa

Day 72 - Monkey

The focus on the monkey's eye is perfect but the left side of the Monkey is over exposed and blown out - Must remind myself to use more focal points in this kind of situation.Posted by Picasa

Day 71 - HDR lizard

Melbourne Zoo - This fella was in the Mandrill ( Baboon ) enclosure With a little HDR all his features stand out clearly.yPosted by Picasa

Day 70 - Stepping out

Melbourne Zoo Butterfly House - Posted by PicasaWalked in and fogged up my lense and glasses.. had to wait a few minutes while I cleaned the lense, then almost right away found this butterfly. Good focus, nice bokeh.

Day 69 - Flowers, Butterfly and Insect

Posted by PicasaA rare occurance - I need a photo for the  http://www.therealdotin.com/ Photography competion - This month's topic is "Flowers - naturally".. This photo could be my entry - although I have used a slight amount of HDR to bring out the details. The white flowers are a bit over exposed and slightly out of focus.

Day 68 - Pelican - Bill

Its days like today that make photography worthwhile and allow me to catch up on my tally of daily photos. Last night I worked out that I am around 10 " days" behind schedule with my photos. Today's trip to the zoo has allowed me to catch up a bit.
Last night I was reading the Ken Rockwell photography soite and he recomended getting in close to the subject - This is what I tried to do with the pelican. A bit of extra saturation brings out all the colours in his eyes and beak.
