56 - The stars at night - Mungo

We all set up oir tripods in the hope of getting a star shot using a low shutter speed.
The Southern Cross is visible right in the moddle of the photo, but I was disappointed with the results.

HOWEVER - When I got home and made a few small adjustments to the photo it brought out all the details and looks more like what we saw on the night.

55 - Roos in the morning

As the sun came up over Mungo an dthe vast plain, a few kangaroos poked their heads up out of the scrub.

54 - Koori Ranger Mungo Park

As we prepare to visit the "Great Walls of China" the ranger expl;ains a bit about what we will see and the meaning of the stone. This stone was placed here to remember a ranger that died of a heart attack a fw years ago.
The sun is sinking quickly and already the colours are starting to change.
The flies start swarming as the sun sets, soon the mosqiutos will come for a feed.
While we take photos the ranger plays his guitar and sings about the land.
The painting on his guitar match the colours of the lanscape perfectly.

53 - Mungo National Park

This was one of the highligts of our 7 day photographuc journey.
Unfortunatly due to heavy rains in the desert area a lot of the park was restricted and we were not permitted to spend more than 1 hour at the " Great walls of China" due to erosion. These "walls" have stood for about 50,000 years but are now eroding quickly as the sand is first washed away by water and then blown away by wind.

The parts of the wall that face the sun are painted Gold and red as the sun sets.

As the sun sets and we walk back to the car we can see the road snaking off into the distance. Dust whipped up by the cars makes the road look like a misty river.

52 - Old Car

Its a long dust road to Mungo with not much to look at along the way.
We came accross an old abandonded car and stopped to check it out.
It was riddled with bullet holes and a bit of graffiti.

Bullet holes amd glassless windows let the light into the car, while making a nice frame for the world outside.
Graffiti scratchedinto the car.
The door makes a nice fam for the gum tree in the background.

51- Flowering Gum

A flowering gum provides a source of nectar for the bees.
This show as hand held and I am very happy with the result.
The bight yellow flowers has a strong contrast against the vivid blue sky.

The bright red pods before they burst open to reveal the yellow flowers.

50 The Chaffey House

The Chaffey Family came to Australia from Canada to install irrigation.
Their home still stands today as a monument to their achievements.

49 - Perry Sands at Sunrise Day 2

The sand hills change colour as the sunrises behind us. The three of us try to find different angles to capture the best photo as the light gets brighter quickly. Surprisingly we find that by climbing over the sandhills into the small valleys below that we can maximise our time as the sun hits different dunes at workable intervals.
A couple of magpies rest in the trees at the top of the sand hill as the sun rises.
7:09 AM

7:11 AM
Eugene finds another shot. The "Golden Hour" with the best light seems to last only minutes as the strong Australian sunlight soon overwhelms the sands with a harsh whiteglare, eliminating shodows. Our photo opportunities fade away all too quickly.

48- Fishing on the Murray River

A father and son fish off one of the docks along the Murray River., with an old paddle boat in the background. They told us they had caught 50 fish - All european carp. Carp have become a pest and are killing off native Murray Cod. By law any carp that are caught may not be thrown back into the river. Instead they are left to dye on the banks of the river.

47- Emus

Australia's flightless bird -
A group of Emu's walk in the grasslands in the dry lake bed at early evening.
With all the rains lately the desert has turned green and the wildlife seem to be harder to find; not because they are dying but more likley that they just have so many more options on where to find food and water.

46- Murray River

This shot was taken on the Murray River near one of the Locks.
I like the reflections in the water but the yelloy floats and signage are a distraction.

45 -Australian Mounted Games Association Event

Our visit to Wentworth co-incided with teh Pony event run by the Australian Mounted Games Association. This was their national event held for the past 3 years at the Wentworth Showground.
The New Zealand Girls aged in theirearly teans put on a fantastic show or horsemanship winning the"D" section of the Tournament.

After presentation of the Ribbons teh NZ girls were allowed to "Charge" down the centre of the sportsfield.
At the end of a long hot day the dust settles and the horses are hosed down for a well earned rest.

44 - Another day at Perry Sands NSW

Another sunrise at Perry Sands -

An airplane flys overhead leaving a trail across the sky.
The passengers oblivious to the beauty below them.
