Day 25 I think I'm Getting ahead of myself - Rickshaw without a ride

Looks like this rickshaw was abandoned by the roadside. My guess is the driver was having a "nature break" somewhere nearby.
The picture is particularly sharp, the telephone pole is a bit of a distraction but otherwise I like this. It works well in colour too.

Day 24 - Vietnam or Indonesia?

When I saw this picture I thought for a minute I was in Vietnam - But no, its in Indonesia.
I like the way that the colours of the lady's dress and the colours on the bus match and complement each other.
Not sure iof I should have included the bottome of the bicycle tires but it seems to work ok, especially since I managed to get the woman's feet into the shot.

Day 23 - Mother and son at the bus stop

Mother lays with son on a bus stop bench. Looks like she may actually be a motor cycle Mom.
I like the composition and colours in this one. it works well in black and white too.

Day 22 - MR. P Gunawan - Rickshaw driver

Many photos of this kind - again they are resting while waiting for passengers - I guess if I was pulling one of these carts with heavy customers I would want to take a rest too.

Day 21

This is Mr Tigasodara - a Rickshaw "driver".
Looks like these guys spend most of their day waiting for their next customer.

Day 20 - Mother and Son

This week I am in Indonesia for business.
We were ina city called Serembang for a day and although most of the photograpghy time was actually sitting in the car I was able to snap a few good shots as we sloeed down to pass through small villages.

Here a mother sits on an old bamboo bench and gives her young son a big cuddle while resting in the shade of a large tress.
The black and white eliminates some distractions. The photo could have been sharper, but given we were in amoving car I think its pretty good.
Heaps of great shots for anyone prepared to walk along the road for an hour or two, but unfortunatly I wasnt able to do this.- Maybe next time.

Day 19 - Farmers cottage

The composition is just ok , but I am disapointed by the orange colour of the plow...it seemed to be a much deeper colour in real life.
Oh well, live and learn.

Day 15 - I think

What can I say - As I said Cumbria is amazing for photography - No wonder the Lakes District is swarming with hikers through the summer months.
Just one or two more of this area before I head back home to Australia.

Day 14 - More of Cumbria

A small stone bridge in the hills surrounding one of the lakes.
This is apparently the most photographed bridge in teh Lakes District.
Given the cold and snow we were lucky that there weren't too many people around to spoil the shot.
Next time I will take more care with composition, depth of field and exposure levels.

Day 13 - Cumbria UK

Actually as you will probably have noticed I have been placing some photos from a single weekend as if they were taken on seperate days - Forgive me - but its my website and I will do as I like. Cumbria is such a beautiful place and just like my trip to Cambodia last year I have been overwhelmed by it. Besides it's very dsifficult to take a good photo every day and work at the same time.

Day 12 - In the graveyard

Alston - Northern Cumbria UK.
I am told that Alston is the highest town in the UK. I guess that explains why when they had the big snow a couple of weeks back that the citizens of Alston were cut off from the rest of civilization by snow blocked roads.
This photo was taken in the front garden of a Churchyard. There were many old gravestones.
I found these off to one side dating back to the 1600's. This photo has not been manipulated and is just cropped for composition. I love the colourrs and the lighting. Sort of feels like a disney ghost story.

Day 11 Derwent Water UK

THis place is amazing for photo opportunities - While I was grateful for the people taking me around on the Sunday afternoon, I wish I was alone so that I could pull over every few minutes for more photos. I have made a note to myself to borrow a car and go around the area by myself or with fellow photogs the next time around.

Day 10 - the canoe on the Lake

Day 10
Last of my " excuse photos for this week-

Day 9 - Ice on the Lake

Day 9-
Its been freezing cold here in Cumbria - A few weeks ago the UK was almost completely white with snow. Luckily I arrived a few days after the worst of the snowfall.
In this photo the ice on the lake is still eveident but not thick enough to walk on- Apparently only  a week earlier people had walked from one side of the lake to the other.

Day 8 - Boat on the Derwent Water

Day 8, Its getting more and more difficult to take a photo a day with my work commitmentd, so I have decided to cheat the system and post a few of my bettershots from the weekend to buy time.
This was a boat sitting on the "Derwent Water " - Lakes District in Cumbria UK.
It had been a cloudy day and we had already given up on any more decent shots for the day when we spotted a break in the clouds and the sun hitting the mountain in the background. Time was around 4:30 PM just before sunset.
I'm glad we stopped the car.

Day 7 - Lakes District UK

Today a group of  us from work spent the day driving around the Lakes District looking for photo opportunities. Since I am still having some problems with my PC I have not been able to do any editing on the photos so this is pretty much as shot out of the camera.
I'm sure that when I get back home to Melbourne I will be able to enhance some of today's pictures to a much higher quality.
This boat was just off a small peir on a lake callerd the Derwent Water. Much of the lake is still frozen from the huge snowstorms here around 2 weeks ago.

Day 6- Hadrians Wall UK

Day 6 -
Today I have been lucky enough to be driven around parts of Cumbria UK.
This is a photo of Hadrian's Wall. I understand it was build by the Romans to defend against invading Scottish Armies around 1900 years ago.
This photo and a few others will get some special attemtion when I get home and can do some editing.

Day 5 Opposing forces - Chessmen

Day 5 -
Due to the cold dreary weather and the fact that it was already dark at 4:30 PM I had to rely on taking a photo indoors. This chesset was the most interestingthing I could find this evening.

Day 4- Snow in Wigton UK

Day 4 and I find myself in sub zero temperatures in England.
This is my accomodation for the next week.

Day 3 - A hot day In Australia

Day Three -
The temperature today is 44 degrees Celcius.  Many people  cooled off in the Yarra river in Warrandyte.
Tonight I fly to the UK for ten days. Hoping to get some better pictures there>

Day 2 - At sunset in the Yarra Valley

Tonight's photo was taken just before the sunset over the Yarra valley in Melbourne.
This is an old Sheep Run used to lead sheep and other stock into treatment baths or to load them onto trucks for the saleyards. Looks like this one hasn't been used for a few years.
Not really one of my better pictures - A bit of HDR ( High Dynamic Range treatment helps to give the picture some added interest and interesting lighting.

Day 1 - Pumping a dry dam

Yesterday's photo - My first for this blog lasting 365 days.
On the way from Melbourne to Bendigo we were diverted off the main freeway and were lucky enough to come accross this scene. A windmill pumps the little remaing water out of the dam. It's just the start of summer here and there's lots more hot weather still to come. A hundred meteres or so from here was another dry dam, a few kangaroos were drinking , but they were skitish and bounded away before I got a decent photo.
